Through Core you can upload very large files without the need of FTP or other frustrating server upload technologies.  

Uploading photos is an imbedded part of your Core administration experience and photos are centralized to each gallery you manage rather than put in a separate folder that you must "dig through" to find and fix photos at a later time.  

This segmented approach to managing of data makes managing your site on the long term very intuitive and simple.
